The “Case” for Searching the Clerk’s Database

The clerk’s database, at the county offices, indexes cases that cannot be found by searching E-Courts alone to search for records in Supreme Court or Lower Civil Court. The E-Courts website enables users to search Supreme Court or Lower Civil records. A search conducted on E-Courts Supreme Civil may not reflect all cases on record because only cases that have been assigned to a Judge are indexed. For similar reasons, E-Courts Lower Civil may not reflect all cases on index on the Lower Civil Court clerk’s index.

KINGS COUNTY REGISTER MOVING

The Kings County Tickler books will be relocated to Queens County Register office the week of December 5th.

Because this will require labeling the books, wrapping/box for transporting, and then unpacking and placing on the shelves in the new location, it will require several days to complete the relocation.

The books will not be available to the public during the week of December 5 – 9.

They will be available in the Queens location on Monday, December 12th.

Also, The office will officially relocate to the 6th floor on December 16th, so on that day the office will be closed to allow the movers to relocate the staff and their equipment.

NY COUNTY LANDLORD TENANT COURT

The L&T clerk is in the process of archiving all cases from 2007. These cases cannot be ordered until the transfer of these cases is completed. The clerk stated that these cases can be ordered from archives next week or the following week.

The courts have been rearranging their hours again. For awhile, all San Francisco courts were closing at noon on Fridays. It looks like they are now going to try to spread that out a little and close at 4pm every day. This shouldn’t affect service too much, but is something to be aware of. Offsite civil files are $10 per file for delivery and take about a week to arrive.

Alameda courts now close at 2:30 every day. Offsite files now cost $10 per file for delivery and can take a week or so to arrive.

Marin courts have also changed their hours. They are now open until 3:30 every day – a big improvement over 12:30! There are still delays in ordering files. Onsite files ordered by noon can generally arrive the following day. Those ordered after noon will arrive the day after (2 days). Offsite files take about 2-3 days for delivery and cost $5 per file. Warehouse files are delivered each Friday regardless of when they are ordered.

As most courts are short staffed and we are dependent on clerks for copies (there are no public copiers in the buildings and files cannot be removed from the room), there can be delays in obtaining copies. If a request is only a few pages, copies can usually be obtained on the spot. If a request is larger, it can take from a few days to weeks depending on clerk’s availability and copy jobs that may precede our orders.

KINGS COUNTY REGISTER

We have learned that the Kings County Register will be relocating all of it’s Land Record Books to the Queens County Register’s office. This move is to make room for an Apple Store due to open at that location. The move has started and is scheduled to be completed before the end of the year. We will provide more information as we get it.

Marin County Courthouse

The Marin County Courthouse in Northern California raises quite a few questions from our clients. Here are the basics:

· The court is now open daily 8:30am – 3:30pm.

· Civil and Criminal records can be searched in the Superior Court Records Room.

· Because the facility is small, many files are stored off site. Often, older and dismissed case files are destroyed entirely. When a file is destroyed a docket may still be available. The clerk cannot determine page count of a docket until it is printed. Once printed it must be paid for regardless of length. The docket does not confirm DOB or SSN in criminal matters.

· Files must be ordered and viewed to confirm DOB and/or SSN. Clerk cannot confirm DOB/SSN.

· The time of day that a file is ordered will determine when the file will be available for viewing.

· On site files are generally available the following day.

· Off site files may take 3-5 business days for delivery.

· Clerk charges $5 per file for off site delivery.

· Copies are $1 per page.

We are proud to announce that we are celebrating our 10^th Anniversary on 05/15/2011. We would like to thank all of our clients for making this possible. We would also like to thank our teams in NY, San Francisco and Los Angeles. If it were not for their efforts every day we would not be able to provide our clients with the high level of service they have come to expect from us. NY UCC and Property Filings

The NY City Register offices are currently rearranging staff across the counties and reallocating staff to different departments and giving new responsibilities. Although there should not be any delays in recording documents without issues, there may be delays in dealing with rejected documents. We will continue to do our best to fix problem documents as quick as possible with the clerk.

New York Weather

02/02/11 – So the weather in NY is once again showing us whose boss, today there is snow, sleet, freezing rain and now just plain old rain. Since our post-Christmas blizzard of 2010 we have had record snow fall making January 2011 the reigning champion for snow fall in any January since records have been kept. It missed being the snowiest month ever by 1 inch which means February 2010 still holds the tile for snowiest month. I’m happy about that and a bit partial to February because it’s my birthday month making it my favorite

As you can imagine, getting around the City to all the courts and consulates, etc. has been a bit tough but we are managing and our turn around time has not suffered one bit. Even though there are many complaints about our public transportation system, it really is the only way to travel at times like these. It makes it possible to operate and not allow the weather to disrupt normal business that much.

Today is in fact Groundhog Day and Staten Island Chuck did not see his shadow today so it looks like there will be an early spring – I love that little rodent!! It also looks like he spared Mayor Bloomberg’s finger.

Hello and welcome to our new and improved website! It has been a long time coming but we hope you find it worth the wait.

This year Zook Search will be celebrating our tenth year in business. We have seen some monumental changes over the last decade but have always stayed true to our goal of serving you – our clients – with efficiency and integrity.

We would like to thank all of our customers who have made this possible and have enabled Zook Search to become as successful as we are today. We will continue to do our best to serve your needs.

We are an eclectic crew but so are the people who record and maintain the documents we access. Online database’s are less expensive to access but riddled with errors and inaccuracies. We pledge to continue to provide the quality of service that our clients have come to expect while continuing to improve our methods and procedures.

Outside of accuracy (which is paramount) our objective is to make the process as stress-free as possible and provide fast and understandable results to our clients.
